A Stop Payment is a request you submit to the bank asking us to prevent a specific check or electronic (ACH) payment from being paid from your account. When a Stop Payment is in place, the bank will attempt to block the transaction as long as it has not already been processed.

Customers commonly use a Stop Payment when:

  1. A check is lost, stolen, or written incorrectly
  2. An upcoming electronic or ACH payment should no longer be paid
  3. A recurring ACH debit (such as a subscription) needs to be stopped
  4. You no longer authorize a merchant to pull funds from your account

Stop Payments must be submitted as soon as possible—if the check or ACH item has already cleared your account, the payment cannot be stopped.
