Pilar Moya, Personal Finance Expert, currently is the executive Director of Housing Help Inc. As a bilingual professional Pilar has spent the last several years helping communities and community members with their understanding of budgeting, debt management skills and housing options. Housing Help, a HUD certified agency, provides Housing Counseling, Financial Literacy, Credit & Debt Education for community members on Long Island.

Pilar was most recently the supervisor of The Debt Counseling Program at Family Service League, a not-for-profit human service agency that serves the needs of over 47,000 individuals and families.  Pilar supervised over 20 volunteer debt counselors and together with them served hundreds of clients teaching them budgeting and debt management skills.

Pilar also provided professional counseling in Pre-purchase and Foreclosure Preventions as a bilingual counselor at Housing Help, a HUD certified housing counseling agency. There she interacted with lenders/servicers and advocated for clients to obtain the best mortgage products available for home buyers and preserve homeownership for existing homeowners at risk of foreclosure. Pilar has had over a 90% success rate in permanent loan modifications obtained for her clients.

Pilar has received several awards for her work including a Proclamation from Huntington Town Supervisor Chad A. Lupinacci for 2018 Women of Exceptional Achievement; Proclamation from County Legislator William R. Spencer in 2018; Proclamation from Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone; Citation from Assemblyman Steve Stern; and Employee Recognition Innovation Award by Family Service League. She has received various Certificates of Recognition and Proclamations from the Town of Huntington, Suffolk County and State Assembly.

Pilar has a Bachelor of Business Administration –Finance from Baruch College as well as an Associates in Applied Science –Business Management from LaGuardia Community College. In 2011, Pilar received NCHEC certificate in Foreclosure Intervention and Default counseling and a Certificate of Completion in Credit Counseling for Maximum Results.

Pilar volunteers with many different organizations on Long Island including The Hispanic Task Force of the Town of Huntington where she is Co-Chair, Suffolk County Hispanic Advisory Board appointed by County Executive Steve Bellone, Steering Committee member of Huntington Township Housing Coalition, Founder of Latinos Unidos de Long Island, Affordable Housing Trust Fund Advisory Board member appointed by Supervisor Chad A.  Lupinacci.  Pilar is a graduate of the 2010 Leadership Huntington Flagship Program and graduate of Parent Leadership Initiative of the Child Care Council of Suffolk. Pilar and her children live in Dix Hills, NY.
